workplace learners

On Friday, August 19, 2016, I met with one of my mentors, Ann Roman, who is the campus librarian at the Waterfront campus. Ann has agreed to keep me up to date on her information literacy practices. We discussed how she applies workplace literacy to her library classroom instruction by being knowledgeable about what information tools and resources will be needed when the students go into the workplace. We talked about critical thinking, which is one of the pieces Ann highlights in her instruction, and which was one of the key components which employers report as being an essential “soft skill” for new grads in the workplace.
